Background
François and Sylvia Cornut are in charge here as
proprietors. Located in the Costières de Nîmes appellation,
François and Sylvia grow both beautiful grapes, and incredible fruit
(apricots & cherries), in the area where the Provence, Rhône and
Languedoc regions all meet around the mouth of the Rhône River.
All work is done by hand with great care and skill, and their wines
reflect the authentic Provençal setting.
This is the first example of Pure Syrah fruit from this cherished
domaine. This is a severe selection, using only the finest Syrah
from the vineyards to create this wine. The wine is vinified in 100%
new casks for 1 year’s time. The result is a richly extracted, jammy
and powerful wine that is packed with intense black fruit that is inky,
thick and über-concentrated. Sadly only a few hundred cases were
made.

"Much better is the ambitious, seriously endowed 2006 Costieres
de Nimes Numa, a 100% Syrah aged in barrique. Its dark
ruby/purple hue is accompanied by notes of blackberries, licorice,
tar, and pain grille. This cuvee should evolve for 4-5 years.

Winemaker Rick Davis was the guest of honor at our Winemaker Dinner at Deep Blue on Friday, March 11th... spectacular dinner by the way! Then on Saturday morning he was at Frank's Union Wine Mart pouring wine for the many folks that stopped by. So, he was supposed to be a guest at Frank's Golden Wine Event on Saturday night, but brought a case of wine with him to pour so we set up a table for him at the last minute! Manchester Ridge Coast Mountain Vineyards are located east of
Manchester, California along the first ridge three miles inland from the
Pacific Coast at an elevation of 2,000 feet. Up to 162 acres of vineyard
can be developed on this flat top ridge that uniquely has less than a 10%
slope.
The potential wine grape quality of this location is unsurpassed along the
California coast. Coastal vineyards at these elevations receive the
highest solar quality in the northern coastal counties and the soils are of
excellent quality and water is sufficient.
Pale straw in color with exuberant aromas of lemon curd layered with
Asian pear exploding on the palate. The aromas mingle with a lush
palate of pear framed by sweet oak. This medium-bodied wine has
balanced acidity and carries a long, lemon citrus finish.
